Brew Lab, Edinburgh

9th November 2017

Brew Lab describes itself as "Trendy, innovative coffee-house offering single origin brews and artisanal produce." and certainly one of the recommended coffee houses to go to in Edinburgh!

Voices of Edinburgh/Difference & Inequality

There was a highly diverse mixture of people that unite for one particular element & that is coffee. There were spectrums of different kinds of people  although mainly university students but there were also businessmen, workers, old couples and surprisingly a large number of tourists as well.

Pre-20th Century Building vs Rustic Interior

The interior of the cafe showed remnants of what the space was used for. The layers and layers of different kinds of material described a history of the little space in the cafe.Exposed stone masonry were visible and exposed throughout the interior, not only was it purposely exposed for its rustic feel but to frame the past of Edinburgh. Through exploration of the space, remnants that there were exposed plasterboards on the walls which later on through research, the space was used as an office. The materials of today that the cafe wanted to put through was concrete, that was seen in the coffe counter(not shown).
